Resilient Pursuit: Who We Are
More Than Land Management—A Way of Thinking
Resilient Pursuit was founded on a simple belief: healthy land, thriving wildlife, successful businesses, and strong communities are all built through resilient thinking.
I'm John Rickner, and my career has always centered on solving complex problems where people, land, livestock, wildlife, and business intersect. My background combines hands-on agricultural experience with formal education in Agricultural Education from Kansas State University and a Master's Degree in Integrated Resource Management from Colorado State University. Throughout my career, I've managed ranches, agricultural operations, hospitality businesses, hunting properties, and land improvement projects, always focused on building systems that perform today while becoming stronger tomorrow.
For more than a decade managing Lil' Toledo Lodge & Event Center, I learned that success isn't created by managing one resource well—it's created by understanding how every resource influences another. Land affects wildlife. Wildlife affects habitat. Habitat affects people. Leadership affects every outcome.
That philosophy became the foundation of Resilient Pursuit.
We work with landowners, ranches, farms, hunting properties, and rural businesses to create practical solutions that improve the long-term health and value of their property. Whether we're restoring native habitat, managing invasive species, improving grazing systems, completing land improvements, consulting on ranch operations, or guiding outdoor experiences, every project begins with the same question:
How do we leave this place better than we found it?
Why "Resilient Pursuit"?
Resilience isn't simply the ability to recover from adversity—it's the ability to adapt, improve, and grow stronger through change.
At Resilient Pursuit, resilience means thinking beyond short-term fixes. It means managing land as a living system, making decisions that benefit future generations, and pursuing continual improvement in everything we do.
That mindset guides every recommendation we make, every acre we manage, and every relationship we build.
Beneath our logo are the coordinates:
31.7784° N • 35.2296° E
These coordinates point to the area, Christ was crucified and where the ultimate example of redemption, sacrifice, and renewal took place.
For us, they represent more than a location. They serve as a daily reminder that some of life's greatest strength is born through adversity and that restoration is always possible.
Those values influence how we approach our work. Land can be restored. Wildlife can return. Rural businesses can thrive again. People can rebuild after setbacks. Every challenge presents an opportunity to create something stronger than what existed before.
That is resilient thinking.
Our Mission
Our mission is to help people steward their land, resources, and operations in ways that create lasting value.
We believe productive agriculture, healthy ecosystems, thriving wildlife, profitable businesses, and unforgettable outdoor experiences don't compete with one another—they work together when managed intentionally.
Resilient Pursuit exists to help our clients build that balance through practical experience, science-based management, and a commitment to leaving every property more resilient than when we arrived.
Because resilience isn't simply surviving change—it's learning to pursue something better.
